Project: The Upper West
Location: Upper West Side, NYC, NY
Interior Design Style: Rustic / Country / Shabby chic
Concept: Residential city home
The goal of this project was to redesign the entire space, making it both comfortable for everyday living, and put together for entertaining guests.
The owners wanted to be able to host people during the holidays and other family gatherings in a space that was warm, welcoming and reflected the styles of the couple.
We removed all existing partitions to create an open floor layout to maximize the family room and kitchen area.
Removing those partitions allowed us to fit an L-shape sofa to maximize sitting.
Then, we created a more intimate family room by adding an artificial fire place that would host the TV area and serve as a focal point for the room.
Next to the family room is the kitchen with an island in the center and a dining table that connects to the island to keep a linear flow that could host about fifteen people comfortably.
The open floor layout provides no barriers when entertaining, allowing all guests to mingle and socialize easily.
